Salary/Benefits with UMKC Staff on Tuesday, does a decision need to be made on rather we get raises or will it go toward retirement, and if so who, how, and when will this decision be made?
Thanks for your post! I attended Betsy Rogdriguez' presentation on Tuesday and I don't believe she said anything about when a decision had to be made. We will try to get an answer to that question. What she did say was that the advice she was giving to the Curators, the President, and the Chancellors, was that giving raises should be considered a high priority, even in this bad economic period. The tough question, meaning there is not easy answer, is how do we pay for raises when there is no money? The only possible answers are increasing revenues or decreasing current expenditures. We have asked for a copy of the powerpoint Betsy used in her presentation last Tuesday and will post that on the Staff Council web site as soon as we get it.
